The Unity Carousel

Unity Merry-go-round

Despite the fact that Hillary came out and told us all to go saddle up and climb aboard the Denver Unity Pony in November, I'll still have to take a pass. What else could she have done except the very thing she was finally forced into? Well, she could have done several things actually. She could have stood her ground and told the media, the DNC, the Obamallamadingdong blogs, and Obama himself to simply kiss her ass. For another she could have....but we'll save that for another day, another post.

But she decided as most politicians do that it's better to work within the system no matter how corrupt that system has become or how much that system now is owned not just by Corporate America but World Corporate as well. If you can't beat them, stay with them is the political slogan of the day.

The same sorry politicians come to us every November with their hat in hand asking for our votes and contributions when the rest of the time they really don't give a shit beyond a few bills of appeasement so that they can hold onto what makes them tick. The battery that runs that clock is powered by those who have power and those who wish to hold onto it for the rest of eternity. And no, the Democrats have not proven themselves to be any different than the Republicans in that regards.

And you Obamabots can save your breath on the Obama bullshit about his corporate campaign contributions. You may enjoy being deaf, dumb, blind, and mostly stupid but stay away from me with that crap. Whether you're getting the money through the front door or the back door, you're still getting the money from the same damn sources as everybody else. You just lie about it better so you can keep fooling your brain dead American Idol Worshippers that you really are the chosen precious one.

I respect Taylor Marsh and appreciate all that she did with her support for Hillary. But this notion of "I won't support Obama but I will work to defeat McCain" is just double talk anyway you slice it. Yes, we've heard your explanation that you are a Democrat first and blah blah blah, but saying two plus two equals six does not make it so.

And yes, I know that Hillary's "encouragement" gives Taylor and many others the easy way out that they asked for and received like manna from heaven, and that now you can write long essays on why each and every one of Hilary's eighteen million supporters should just join in a chorus of Kumbaya and welcome themselves to Obamaland. Of course, it does mean swallowing your pride, your dignity, and crawling back to the DNC, the Obamablogs, and the Obamabots with your hat in your hand and your tail between your legs just so you can take a ride on the Democratic Unity Pony as it bobs up and down while it weaves around in circles as part of the political carousel we have all learned to just accept as our lot in life.

It's even worse for women, because saddling up with Obama is an invitation for them to be shunned aside once again just as they always have been while the likes of Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews, John Avarosis and Marcus smile warmly down upon them knowing they were right all along. Yes, we give you permission to join Obamaland with the understanding that all men are are created equal, as are women. They're just not equal to men.

And that goes to anybody else who thinks that holding their nose and voting for Obama will make any difference whatsoever because he's at least a Democrat and any Democrat just has to be better than any Republican. Have you been paying any attention at all? Didn't we just go through this four years ago? With Kerry, it was anybody but Bush for many voters. You saw how well that went over. Now, as a few who supported Hillary turn tail and run to Obamallamadingdong Land, they'll justify it as they already have by being a vote for anybody but McCain. I guess rationalization can work wonders can't it?

One used to think that a politician had to have at least some credentials in order to become president. That theory was disproved with Georgie Jr. who was elected on the basis of being the first Barroom Buddy-in-Chief, although he never did sit down with anybody at a local tavern and hoist a few in eight years.

I certainly never knew how deep his and his famiy ties with the Saudi's went eight years ago and I certainly didn't know that he had run two oil businesses into the ground, including using insider knowledge to sell his stock before one of them went belly up leaving the rest of the investors holding the bag and a friend of Papa Bush's to keep him out of trouble.

But certainly we knew about it the second time around and still it didn't matter. Bush won again anyway simply because when you get right down to it, Kerry was just a so-so candidate who stood by while the Media and the Republicans defined him, punched him in the gut, and never stood up to them until he had a week or two to sit down and think it over. I pray for the day when the first politician goes on with Tim Russert or Keith Obamaman and tells them what assholes they really are instead of just sitting there taking it, playing their game, and then getting fucked over anyway. Look no further than the way that Keith Obamaman socked it to Hillary with not one but two not so special commentaries even after she appeared on his shows. He was too gutless to make the accusation to her face, but pussy enough to do it in an unanswered rant on National Television. But I'll be dreaming all the way to my death bed I suppose before I see a politician actually stand up to any one of these idiots.

Now we have Democratic Candidate Barack "I'm ashamed of my middle name so you'd better not say it" Obama, whose credentials actually make Bush seem like a heavyweight by comparison. Worse yet, he is carrying so much dirty laundry into the election, that I hear the Maytag repairman will be his first cabinet appointee. And even that won't be enough.

But as I said months ago, we don't really pick the candidates do we? The media chooses them for us just as they did this year with the help of delegate manipulation and disenfranchisement by the Democrats who finally figured out that the Republicans had the right idea on how to do it after all. And because of his appointment and anointment by the DNC (tell me again why we vote?), the Democrats may well be strutting someone out to the podium who could give new meaning to the word corruption. Somewhere, Dick Nixon is smiling.

Great blog. Not just for content which is great or for graphic that are fantastic but for large, clear type.

Ya know us old gysers appreciate seeing things clearly.

Thanks for speaking and please keep doing it.

I will never, ever vote for Obama, and I am hoping there are lots and lots of Americans who are fed up with eating what we're force-fed. I want us all to choke and spit up right in their faces.

Thanks for the great post. I'll vote for a coack a roach before I vote for Obama, but McCain will do nicely (no offense to Sen. McCain intended). I no longer consider myself a member of the Democratic (socialist) Party. Howard Dean, Pelosi and Donna Brazille make me ill.

Haven't read the post yet - it's in my browser for savoring when I have time - but I wanted to say thanks for the Unity Merry-go-round graphic.

When I saw it come up at Make Them Accountable (congrats!) it gave me the best laugh I've had weeks.

NObama for me as well - also, went to the vet yesterday (often hear RW radio played there) and his wife and I commiserated about Hillary - she said she thinks she would have voted for her - felt comfortable on defense issues - Obama, an empty suit. (very conservative area in OHIO)
